My wife and I recently returned from our trip celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary.  I believe we never meet anyone by chance; everyone is a divine appointment.  That thought was reinforced every day of our trip.

We met Red Skelton’s impersonator before a show he was doing.  We had the opportunity to visit and he said, “This is a divine appointment” because his friend’s wife died the day before and he was seeing him the next day.

I visited with a cleaning lady who was having a bad day.  She wasn’t doing well because her mother died a year ago.  I listened, shared, and prayed.  Her countenance was much improved when I left.

After bowling with my son and grandsons, we went to a place called “The Cookout”.  They make approximately 40-50 varieties of milkshakes.  While waiting on our orders, I asked people what their favorite shakes were.  I was chatting with a group of three people and they asked for prayer for a family member who was in a near-fatal accident that morning.  They had been in and out of the hospital all day.  We stopped, held hands, and prayed right there.

I share this as a reminder for each of us that there are people hurting everywhere.  May the Lord open our eyes to see them and seize the opportunity to come alongside in their time of need.

Remember, people don’t care how much we know until they first know how much we care.  “Some having compassion making the difference” (Jude 22).

In Christ,

Isaiah 58:11  The Lord will guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and strengthen your bones;

You shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.
